Set in the beautiful bush environment of the Otway Ranges the Turramurra Folk Music Bush Camp welcomes people of all ages to enjoy music and dance from a variety of traditions in a safe, community setting.
Join a workshop led by one of our talented tutors, enjoy a jam session, dust off your old skills, try something new, or just relax amongst the trees and soak it all up. Great for families and a perfect start to the year.
At our 2019 camp there will focus on storytelling through music, poetry, spoken word and theatre. The camp will highlight ancient and traditional forms of storytelling from Australian Aboriginal and Persian culture and give everyone a chance to share their story. Every song, every tune, every dance and every person comes with a story!
A traditional Iranian felt tent will act as a story sharing hub. Workshops will be provided for fiddle, guitar and whistle and there will be ensembles of different shapes and sizes. And of course there will be singing!
The Camp is held at ‘Wildwood Retreat', situated on Pennyroyal Creek on the northern fringe of the Otway Ranges. Facilities include camping (unpowered), swimming pool and communal barbeques. Limited bunkhouse accommodation is available in shared rooms. Alternative accommodation is available at local cabins and cottages (separate booking required). Apologies to canine lovers but this is a dog-free event.
