Rosewood camp is so lucky to have a wonderful network of talented and generous tutors to call on every year. You can find program details for our 2017 camp here and tutor information here.
In the lead up to camp we'll be featuring a tutor or two each week or so, little teasers to get you excited about what's in store for this year. To kick off, meet Jess Foot, our Fiddle tutor!
Jess is a freelance oboist and fiddler with classical/baroque/folky/improv/new music persuasions. She performs a diverse range of music for orchestras, chamber music projects and recordings.
Jess' fiddle style includes strains of Celtic, Scandinavian, Quebecois, Old-time and Middle Eastern modal music. She performs at festivals, country halls, house concerts, birthday parties and the like - with Duck Duck Goose (quirky double-reed Trad), the Homegrown Quartet (original tunes), The Neon Effect (contemporary Aussie Trad) and in her duo with Louise Godwin. For many years she has also delighted in improv. collaboration with the multi-instrumentalist and composer Carl Pannuzzo.
But the most important thing to know about Jess is that she makes everyone around her feel relaxed and ready for fun!
Do you like playing in a dance band? Here's your chance!
A note from our contra dance workshop leader, Maggie Duncan -"I have some dance tune sets that people might like to have a look at prior to the camp - they can come and play (any instrument ) for the dance workshops. Chord charts, tune sets attached. Hugh and Janet (fiddle and keyboard workshops) also have some sets of their tunes , so we will be using them too."
You can download Maggie's charts using the links below:

Apologies for any angst that was created when Eventbrite decided that we had sold out. We aren't (yet), I've explained this to the computer so fortunately there are still tickets left to buy - just don't leave it too late, okay?
Now that you've recovered from the shock, here's something to make you feel better - more info about our amazing tutors and the workshops they'll be presenting! You can find the new info here:
and start thinking about which instruments to pack! (Please note that Pat will not be lying down while teaching his workshops. He's just having a rest because I can't work out how to turn him the right way up.
Andy has proudly finalised our program lineup for this year (phew!) and, well, quite frankly I'm excited and wondering how you will all choose between them. Hoops, Guitars, Contra Dancing, Singing and our ever innovative youth band are first cabs off the rank. Check out the workshop program here and then head over to the Tutors page for a "teaser" about the amazingly talented crew who'll be teaching at Charnwood. Stay tuned for more details as they come flying into my inbox!
As some of you may be aware, this year's "theme" for Roses Gap Music Camp is the music and culture of Polynesia - incorporating Maori dance, singing, and art, and Fijian ukulele. Most of our tutors are now confirmed, so if you'd like to check out this year's workshops, head over to this page.
In preparation you might like to watch "Whale Rider"
You might also be aware by now that tickets to the 2013 camp are sold out. If you'd like to go on the waiting list, send your details through via our contact form.
If you have tickets and find that you can no longer use them, please contact us immediately so that we can reallocate your spot to a grateful person on the waiting list and provide you with a refund.
Looking forward to seeing you soon - 40 days to go!
RGMC is very excited to be having Graeme McLeod teaching *both* beginner and intermediate guitar workshops at camp this year - coming all the way from Scotland to do so! When he's not based in Scotland, he tours Australia and New Zealand with The String Contingent. You can read more about Graeme by clicking his pic to the left.
Ilka White was originally lined up to lead our Art program this year, unfortunately a clash of commitments has meant that she can't come - FORTUNATELY the fabulous Margo Feast has stepped up to take on the role and we very much look forward the fabulous art she'll be helping us create at camp.
